Last week we talked about caring for your body the way you care for your car or your home.
You schedule maintenance.
You pay attention to warning lights.
You don't expect it to run forever if you ignore it.
And yet, this body? The one you live in 100% of the time? We often treat it as optional.
Here's the deeper why behind all of this:
This is the body God gave you. On purpose.
Think of your body as the vehicle you were handed to carry out your calling here on earth. It's how you show up. It's how you serve, love, work, lead, create, and give. When that vehicle is constantly breaking down — exhausted, hurting, inflamed, overwhelmed — it becomes much harder to live with energy, passion, and joy.
Caring for your body isn't about vanity.
It's not about perfection.
And it's definitely not about turning health into an idol.
It's about stewardship.
Doing the best you can do with what you've been given — so you can fully show up for what you were put here to do.
You don't have to be extreme. You don't have to be "all in" or "all out". It's not black and white. Small, consistent care matters:
- Moving your body regularly
- Fueling it with foods that support you
- Resting when it needs rest
- Strengthening it so it can carry you well through life
You take care of your car so it can get you where you need to go.
You take care of your home so it can shelter the people you love.
Take care of your body so it can carry you into your purpose.
As we head into Christmas, this is a beautiful time to pause and remember why our bodies matter in the first place.
Christmas reminds us that God came to us in a body — fully human, fully present. He walked, served, rested, ate, slept, and loved through a physical body. That alone tells us something powerful: bodies matter.
So during this season of celebration, gatherings, and generosity, give yourself permission to care — not obsess, not restrict, not strive — but care.
Care for your body, so you can:
- Be present with the people you love
- Serve with energy and joy
- Step into the new year strong, capable, and ready
This isn't about earning anything or doing more. It's about honoring the gift you've been given — and using it well.
