Lately several of my clients have told me they get down on themselves if they miss a week of exercise — sometime even just a day or two — as if all of their hard work suddenly disappears overnight.
But here's the truth: progress isn't about perfection. It's about consistency over time — showing up and doing your best as often as you can.
Missing a week, or having a day off, doesn't erase your efforts. It's what you do after that matters most. Get back on track, refocus, and keep moving forward. Every single time you choose to return, you're building something stronger than any perfect streak could ever give you: resilience.
You don't have to get it right every time — you just have to keep coming back.
That's how lasting change happens.
So if you've been feeling frustrated or behind schedule, take a breath. One imperfect week doesn't define you. Neither does an imperfect year for that matter. The fact that you care to try enough again does.
Do your best as often as you can — and let that be enough. The small, steady choices you make day after day add up in ways perfection never will.
Show up however you can this week:
Go for a walk, come to a class lift something heavy, or just move your body in a way that feels good. Every bit counts — and every effort matters.
